About Us

Our Story

BBS was founded by Albert Francis Moon in 1933 as a general builders and agricultural merchants based out of a five-story building on Victoria Street in central Bristol, Albert would later go on to become the Lord Mayor of Bristol in 1937.

Albert’s grandson Gordon Moon acquired the company in the 1950’s and it was in this period that the company moved into the realm of sanitaryware and central heating and continued to operate out of Victoria Street until a compulsory purchase of the building was made in 1982 for a new road development.

The firm moved to the Central Trading Estate off the Bath Road but quickly outgrew those premises and so moved once more to the Barton Hill Trading Estate next to the historic Feeder Canal that links the Floating Harbour with the River Avon. This would become the hub of the business for the following 35 years.

Our Managing Director Lee Hooper joined BBS in the 1990’s, starting out like many of us in the warehouse before moving into sales and later management.

Our Business

BBS Plumbing & Heating Supplies are a local, independent plumbing supplier open to both Trade & Retail since 1933. We have branches and bathroom showrooms located across Bristol, Bath & Yate.

At BBS’s core is our position as one of the Southwests leading suppliers of plumbing and heating products to our diverse customer base, from individual tradesmen to maintenance firms and large contractors. Over the past ten years the business has developed extensively growing from a single branch to several and increasing our product portfolio with a wider selection of Commercial and Heating Spares stock. Our reach extends across the Southwest and further with regular runs into London, the South, the Midlands & Wales. We hold stock in excess of 15,000 products which enables us to meet our customers' demands swiftly, and in full, with a friendly and professional service.
